Welcome to 2014, the year of the horse.
The time of year when we resolve to eat better, exercise more and Facebook less. When we realize our slates have been wiped clean and the possibilities are endless. We are determined to live life to its fullest, dance like no one is watching (unless we’re talking about the Harlem Shake and then we can all agree that should stay in 2013) and adhere to a long list of resolutions that unfortunately only last a few weeks.
This year, I think we can do better.
I propose that we simplify our resolutions and choose ONE word to define our selves and our actions for 2014. My word is Intentional. Done on purpose, deliberate, calculated, planned, meant, studied, knowing, willful, purposeful, premeditated, preplanned, preconceived. To me being intentional means I think before I speak, I mean what I say and I act with a purpose. I am focusing more on giving others my full attention, volunteering with my family, keeping my promises and encouraging others. It’s amazing how one word, one focus can influence every area of your life and simplify it at the same time.
What will your word be?
